NICKY SPENCER-COKERholds a B.A. in Political Science, Juris Doctor (JD) and BL. She is a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of Sierra Leone, and was previously a State Prosecutor with the Ministry of Justice. Currently, Nicky is a Legal Analyst/Defense Counsel at the Sierra Leone Legal Aid Board. In addition, Nicky is an extremely popular media personality: hosting the Saturday Breakfast Show on Capital Radio SL as well as “holding the mic down” for numerous events- both entertainment and charity- as a professional compere. In 2007, she moderated Sierra Leone’s Vice-Presidential Candidates’ Debate.
She’s a passionate advocate for the empowerment of women and girls in Sierra Leone and serves on the executive of L.A.W.Y.E.R.S (Legal Access for Women Yearning for Equality, Rights and Social Justice). Nicky also owns production companies- ‘Sassy Productions’ and Manishas Productions which is a joint venture with other female media personalities.
She is a firm believer in the power of education. In the fight against Ebola in Sierra Leone, Nicky was involved in various humanitarian initiatives and trained operators at the 117 call center. Most importantly to her, she is wife to Lawrence and the mother of two lovely daughters.
